Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative comments from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his success. Phil admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
