In Advance of a Tilt
Ah, the poker tilt. If a poker player states at no time to have peered down the barrel of an upcoming poker tilt – they’re either telling a lie or they have not been playing very long. Awful beats are going to happen. It is an unavoidable experience of participating in Texas Holdem, or really any kind of poker.
Seeing as we are assumingly (almost all of us) playing poker for a single reason – to make money, it certainly makes sense that we will play accordingly to maximize profits. Now let us say you are up $100 off of a $100 deposit, and you suffer a large hit in a NL game and your bankroll is only has remaining one hundred and twenty dollars. You have lost eighty dollars in a round where you were certain to pick up $200two hundred dollars when you went all-in on the flop and held a ten to one advantage. And that fiend! He bled you dry on the river? – Well stop right there. This is a quintessential opportunity for a new bettor to begin tilting.
