NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn whatever he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental comments from others kill his goal of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.
Phil started playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching experience and winning was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and always strives to improve.
Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
