Web Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the final poker table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest bettors anywhere in the world. While gambling on net poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of $40, 000. Hansen generally buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the min takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy in for the total dollar value. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest players anywhere in the world might be players you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be found wagering on online poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in big stakes omaha hold’em and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in money rounds?
