Online High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to achieve final poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest enthusiasts around the world. While betting on web poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He often plays in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has no reason to settle at the table with the min buy in.
Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amount. I think television can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The best players anywhere in the world may be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be seen competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in big stakes omaha high and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in cash games?
