Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player in the world by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn anything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental feedback from others destroy his ambition of being one of the best poker players in the world.

He began playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal love for poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
