Right Before you Tilt

Ah, the poker steam. If a poker enthusiast states never to have looked over the barrel of an upcoming poker tilt – they’re either telling a lie or they haven’t been wagering for a long time. This does not mean of course that every poker player has been on tilt before, a number of players have excellent control and carry their losses as a defeat and leave it at that. To be a good poker gambler, it’s especially important to approach your successes and your losses in an identical manner – with no emotion. You compete in the game the same way you did following a difficult loss as you would after winning a great hand. Many of the poker masters are not attracted by tilting after a horrible beat as they are particularly seasoned and you should be to.

You need to be aware that you can not win each hand you are in, even if you are heavily favored. Hands that frequently cause people go on tilt are hands that you were the favorite or at a minimum thought you were until you were rivered and you burned a huge chunk of your bankroll. Bad beats are going to happen. Embrace that certainty right now, I’ll say it once again – if your sister enjoys cards, if your parents enjoy cards, if your grandpa enjoys cards – We all have poor beats at some point. It is an unavoidable outcome of competing in Texas Holdem, or in reality any type of poker.

Seeing as we are assumingly (almost all of us) playing poker for one purpose – to make $$$$, it certainly makes sense that we would gamble accordingly to maximize our profit potential. Now let us say you are up one hundred dollars off of a 100 dollars deposit, and you take a huge blow in a NL game and your stack is only has remaining one hundred and twenty dollars. You have squandered $80 in a hand where you should have picked up $200two hundred dollars when you decided to go all-in on the flop and held a 10 – 1 edge. And that fish!
