No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Howard Lederer?
Howard Lederer lived in a family of 5 where he liked playing different card games at a young age. He found himself getting really aggressive in these card games while competing against his dad. After graduating from Sr. High school, Howard made a decision to place college on hold for a bit and relocated to New York to participate in some formidable chess. While participating in chess, he was introduced to a poker game going on in the back of the room. Howard’s initial 2 years were rough as he played many hours and lose a majority of the time. He made some extra cash by being an assistant for the poker players. He judged he possibly could better his game by balancing his life away from poker. He brought about an attempt to get more sleep and focus attention even more on poker.
The real advancement in his abilities happened when he started playing at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the the most favorable gamblers would regularly wager against one another. Howard was able to access several of the best minds in chess. With their assistance, Howard Lederer would tweak his strategic thinking abilities. Howard applied these strategy ideas to the game of No-Limit Texas Holdem.
He also assisted his sister Annie Duke learn the game of poker. Annie Duke was a great student of the game as she constantly asked questions about the right way to make the correct choice. Howard told Annie Duke to head out to Sin City and compete in the World Series of Poker tournaments. Annie is one of the best female players the poker arena today. Howard Lederer headed to Sin City in 1993 and played money games for the next 10 years. When the WPT grew in popularity, he decided to play more tournaments.
