Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve final game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a large pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest gamblers in the world. While gambling on internet poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He often competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be one of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amt.. I think television can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest players in the world could be players you have never heard about. Gus can be seen betting on net poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in big stakes omaha hi-low and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in money games?
