Horrible Fortune in Poker

For a match where most enthusiasts rarely consider fortune, there are lots of folklore in poker. When you say that someone was lucky in that poker tournament they captured, be mindful of how you mention it. For instance, if you mention that you were unfortunate, your luck may never change.

Ok, that might sound a bit strange, but poker is a casino game armed with superstitions. Did you know that if you are gambling a game with two seperate decks and you’re asked to choose the deck, you should always select the deck that’s furthest from you? Or, how about If you get a streak of poor cards, you have to sit on a hankerchief to break your horrible luck? It’s actually considered good fortune to blow through a deck of cards while they are being mixed up.

A few other interesting poker superstitions are:

  • You can change the run of cards by going around your chair 3 times.
  • The luckiest seat at the poker table looks at the door.
  • The unluckiest spot has its rear to a fireplace.
  • When shifting spots, you should always do so following the clock.
  • The worst poker card is the 4 of clubs.
  • It’s most unlucky to sit with your legs crossed at the poker table.
  • Sun is a terrible day for betting on cards.
  • The 13th is also a horrible day, no matter what day of the week it is.
