NL Holdem Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?
Howard Lederer was born into in a family of five in which he loved betting on various card games when he was young. He discovered himself getting very aggressive in these particular card games as he was competing against his father. After graduating from secondary school, Howard decided to place college on hold for a bit and relocated to New York City to play some formidable chess. While playing chess, he was introduced to a poker game taking place in the back of the room. Howard’s first 2 years were tough as he would play countless hours and do not win most times. He made some extra money by becoming an assistant for the poker players. He theorized he could improve his game by analyzing his life outside of poker. He brought about an effort to acquire more rest and focus attention more on poker.
The real improvement in his abilities happened when he began betting at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the the most favorable players would frequently wager against one another. He had access into a number of the greatest minds in chess. With their help, Howard would hone his cunning thinking techniques. Howard applied these strategy ideas to the game of NL hold’em.
He also helped his sibling Annie Duke master the game of poker. Annie Duke was a great student of poker as she constantly asked questions about the right way to make the correct decision. Howard Lederer told Annie Duke to move out to Las Vegas and compete in the World Series of Poker tournaments. She is one of the best women players the poker world ever. He relocated to Sin City in 1993 and played money games for the following decade. When the WPT grew in popularity, Howard decided to participate in more tournaments.
